Managing Member
Ozmar Alexander Martinez Suarez is a native of Roslyn Heights, Long Island, New York. Ozmar started his architectural career in 2007 when he enrolled at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT). At NYIT, Ozmar was accepted into the 5-year architectural program and graduated with the Bachelor of Architecture degree in 2012. In early 2013, Ozmar began his architectural career working for a small firm in Melville, Long Island. During his time at the Melville firm, Ozmar gained experience in learning structural elements, field experience, and drafting basic construction documents. Ozmar also met John Pinizzotto, who was his superior at the time and gave him insight into design and office operations. The Melville firm also immersed him in the operations of the New York City (NYC) Department of Buildings, which began Ozmar's understanding of how to become an NYC filing representative (expediter). In search of new opportunities, Ozmar left the Melville firm in mid-2014 and began working at a College Point, NY Firm where he gained the most valuable knowledge in the architectural field. The College Point firm's principal is a very well respected architect in the Queens and Bronx areas. The architect refined Ozmar's skills in drafting, design, NYC expediting, and client communication, and helped Ozmar understand office operations.
In his free time Ozmar freelanced for expediters, homeowners, and contractors. Freelancing would help Ozmar build his own clientele while still working full time in College Point. In 2019, Ozmar opened up his first company, Martinez Suarez Consultants, while still working full time with the College Point Firm. Ozmar is very grateful to the principal and views the architect as his mentor. From 2019 to 2022, Ozmar seriously pursued the Architectural Registration Exams (ARE) and received notice of passing in December 2022. Almost 9 years later, Ozmar decided to leave College Point to start OAMS Architectural Design PLLC. It was no easy task and because of freelancing, Ozmar was able to start with two-part employees and begin his firm's journey with OAMS. Ozmar is currently part of the American Institute of Architects, Queens Chapter, and serves as the chapter's Secretary. He is also part of the Long Island Builders Institute and the Queens Chamber of Commerce. He is registered with the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. Ozmar is also licensed not only in New York State but also in Connecticut and New Jersey. Ozmar strives to have his clients' needs fulfilled and will always fight for them when possible, and make sure this idealogy is shared within his firm.
